Thing 30 - Final Post

This program opened my eyes and wander my mind with too many things to learn. It's all about brainstorming, reading, thinking, and understanding. I gained so much knowledge.It's not just aiming for the award but it's a huge benefit for me on the end. I enjoyed reading other people's blog, all the positive and negative comments on some of the website that we've explored. This was a very valuable training that I need to take in consideration, with all the new technologies I came across helped me a lot to be able to implement it at my workplace.I thought I will never make it to the final episode. Yeah! I'm very proud to myself that I accomplished something. I am ready for another online training like this, I like working and learning on my own pace.My suggestion was to give more lab schedule to allow us more time to work on our training.Overall, I thank my supervisor for helping us when we have questions and problems. Thank you once again to Cindy. I hope and expect that you'll allow us more time again on our future training. Let's celebrate!

Thing 29 - Learning 2.0 Experience

This was a great idea of bringing in the Library 2.0 in our library system.
First I don't have no idea what's all about it.I was thinking that this is another workload for me.With the busy schedule I tried to give myself some time to work on all the THINGS from the start. Honestly speaking I was amazed and overwhelmed with all the experienced I had on learning all these training.

I thanked some of my co-workers who helped me in some aspects that I didn't know what to do and other than that I am ready for another one or any online training. I enjoyed it, definitely I will go back to see some of the 30 things and save to my faves,I'm positive I can use it at work or for my personal use. Thank you to all the Library staffs who coordinated this Learning 2.0 training.

Creating another account? I think it's too much for me to remember all these usernames and passwords. I know this is another tool of search engine, but I prefer to use what I have already established and haved saved on my faves. I was frustrated and disappointed while doing the search, it does not open some of the link in my computer at work and I just gave up.I think it's up to some people what they prefer to use and choose like using this type of search engine.

Library Thing

Registration is simple, very easy to join. I have quite a few collections at home and most of the selection that I have are about health, cookbooks, and some fiction books in general.Free library cataloging, easy to add books by title or ISBN you can add tags on each title. I highly recommend to people who are book lovers, also to people who are in groups doing book discussions and book clubs. I love it and now I can have a private library and catalog my personal library with style and grace.

Podcast & Vodcast

I check the Arizona State University, The Library Channel and I found a lot of information to help the students in the community area. They used the podcast video for tours, about news information. It offers a lot of resources for students, like the group study room, wireless computers, teach research classes and more. Students and other people come back for some reason that they already knew what their library can do to their lives on everyday basis.

It's almost the same thing what we have here in our library we offer computer classes, genealogy and more, I think it would be better if we have a podcast on our website to show to the public what we offer, and maybe we can convince people to check out what's going on in our library.

I was really disappointed for the first time while in the process of searching through the first two discovery resources, I can't access to it and when I tried the yahoo podcasts it was a very successful search I went through. I like to watch and listen to music through you tube, interesting. I have my mp3 player and I think I will not use it for this stuff, I can always go to my pc at home to do all these things.

Base on my experience on exploring You Tube I absolutely have a wonderful time viewing or watching them. There are some that I came across that are inappropriate I just went ahead and exited. I have chosen the Bloopers video because they are really funny. You Tube is the leader of internet video search and I think library web sites is just right to display to the world to find out what's inside the library itself. That's all I can say.

Flickr mashups & 3rd party

Too many things to absorb, honestly I was a little bit confuse about this mashups and 3rd party. I notice that while I was playing around with the FD Toys I found a lot of very interesting stuffs like creating calendar, wall paper, photo wall and more by using digital photos, I really wanted to create a calendar with my digital photos long time ago, I think this is the best time to do it with this available site.

Talking about 3rd party, I pick the Travel planner by yahoo , this is a site that let you build your travel itineraries. I've been to different places and I have lots of photos to set up with flickr and in the future I'll try to find some time to do it and see the good result.

Tagging - Flickr

Tagging are really important on this photo sharing web site, for me it's a lot easier to find photos and more.Photos that are tagged provide access to images by selecting the most popular keywords. My favorite part was looking at the photos about travel and nature, it's very relaxing viewing on each of them.

I think everything that are being promoted, highlighted, showing the history of the area are being shared to the community by means of the Flickr website. I like it because our library has a website that was created by my supervisor, it's fantastic.

Flickr is very interesting, actually flickr was part of yahoo and I was able to merge my yahoo account to Flickr and I did not create a new account any more. Flickr is almost certainly the world's best photo site. Now that I have this Flickr account I am able to share my photos with my family, relatives and friends away from me and I can stay in touch with all of them too. There's tons of interesting photos that are tagged according to their popularity and I was so amused with what I discovered, I explored each one of them and they are so beautiful and amazing,more fantastic photos are being added to Flicker and it's more overwhelming to me. I like it because I am able to keep private or public.

At first I was confused, I went back and read over again until I understand it very well. I selected the award winner which was in the the third place, it's about the Personalized Google (the igoogle). I like so much, going through it, I experienced all of these exciting information that was loaded on it and it has so much things that I never encountered before. Actually, google was my favorite search engine,now that I have "igoogle" I put it in my faves and I added a lot of stuffs on it. I can also rearrange my page. It's really fun.

I would say that Technorati was all about blogs that are already posted and I think it's easier to find because they are already been registered and tagged with certain key words. There are so many blogs that if you want to read only the most relevant and current. I myself try to experience on checking all the blogs that I'm interested to it and it looks very interesting.That's all I can say for now.

It's very interesting to find about tagging and bookmarking.I remember using numerous time on bookmarking .Tagging is pretty intuitive and can take a lot of practice to fully understand.I like it a lot because it's easy and flexible,a better way to organize bookmarking and I discovered interesting things on the web too, it's so easy to remember. About del.icio.us, it was fun and easy to use,lots of bookmarks about technology, entertainments and useful information. Help me a lot to find things on bookmarks, I love so much for the good reason that I can do it anywhere, at home and at work.

My Space

It seems so fast, fun and easy. I feel that my space is good in so many ways, you have to be mature enough to understand with all the new technology, no matter what. I like it because I was able to find my long lost friend through going to her daughter's account, with this technology I have the chance to see friends and relatives away from me. It has become more popular among older internet users,it has the broadest appeal across age range.I will try it maybe later whenever I feel like doing it, I have to think about it before I will post my profile.

Online social networking is good for people who wanted to establish and maintain personal connections and finding friends with shared interest. I think this is safer place for young and adult, a way of communication, you don't need to go out and meet them , on line social networking on some students use this as way of talking about their education,sharing and exchanging information.Myspace.com,facebook.com, these are just some of the popular website but there are more out there, these websites is a place they can share their photos, videos and song tracks. VBPL should use OSN for teens in the library they are the young generations who are into it,now it's up to the parents if they allow them to have an account, their are many opportunities and pitfalls. I myself kind like it because I'm the person who has no time to go out in the public to socialize, OSN is a great technology.

I had the most exciting experience after adding my pick to the VBPL RA wiki. It's not that bad, I really like it,I had the opportunity to take a look on someone's picks too. It's great technology to have this in our library system, I knew there's a lot of staff out there to share their ideas, they can remove, add and edit if they have any comments on what you blog.

Wiki was very popular now all over the world, it's an ideal tool of searching information, it is easy and fast.Wiki is a great format for anyone, you can add, remove and edit information.Wiki is a venue where peole can share ideas. There are a lot of libraries out there using wiki,each libraries have their own format. I't very insteresting, a lot of information to absorb and learn.This technology is really very appropriate in the library, we need to inform our patrons who are interested in using it. I love it.

IM & LIBRARIES

I agree that IM should be use in Libraries, it's a good way of communicating with our customers who want to acess information virtually.This is a hip technology that will allow us to communicate with our customers in real time. It is also an interactive style of electronic conversation. It give us privacy as well. There are more people use it now a days with all ages.
It's better than doing e-mail. I probably start using IM once I set my account.

Finding Feeds

I read so many times about finding feeds just to clarify myself what I really wanted to find out and learn on doing it. I read about Topix and it just made my day, because it shows the Virginia Beach Local forum, polls and news. I also tried the Technorati and it's not bad, I think I have some feeds that I can add to my google reader. I went also to different web sites to find some feeds, yesterday I had a lot of fun working with my co-workers searching some feeds and I enjoyed sharing with them. I'm positive that I can always use them for my personal life and as well at my workplace ( with our customers). I'm so pleased about bringing this technology to our library system.

There are tons of feeds and it's really overwhelming. It's really interesting and fun. I can definitely use this technology at work when needed. For my personal life I think this is a very good source to keep myself being knowledgeable and updated of what's new and what's happening around me on earth.

Learning 2.0

Learning 2.0 was very challenging, I like it a lot myself, I'm on the process of learning some new technologies. These new technologies will help me communicate with people at work or with customers . This is a great opportunity to have this in our Library system. I hope that it will continue to emerge and develop so that our customers can access to our program.

71/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners

There are 2 habits that I'm sure are the hardest for me.

1.View problems as challenges.

With all the new technologies that we encounter in our daily lives, I think I need to have a real good training on hand.

2.Create your own learning tool.

Like what I said I need help or training on hand.

The easiest thing is to have confidence in myself and be an effective learner.
With all the help around me, like my co-workers and supervisor, I'm very confident to do things and work with the computer.
